THE RACES OF THE ACC CONTERN:
To honour the greatest luxembourgish sportsman of the century, Charly Gaul, the ACC Contern wanted to organise a race with his name. And it was only natural that this race should be charactrized by climbs, his favourite terrain. A first event was organized in form of an uphill time trial on the côte de Breedewee in Luxembourg downtown, but afterwards it was decided to organise the race as an event open for everyone. Since 1990, the "randonnée Charly Gaul" is a cyclo-sport event, a leisure race allowing each year between 500 and 1000 more or less experienced riders to discover the luxembourgish countryside and its hills.
